My love for photography began in the dark room, where I discovered that the process of developing black and white photographs has an element of mystery that I couldn’t ignore. I feel fortunate to be living a life in which I can be creative and also thrive in my career, a journey that has led me to recognition as an internationally award-winning commercial and fine art photographer. Although I enjoy commercial photography, my love for making fine art reaches beyond that but I do not think that fine art and commercial work needs to be mutually exclusive.
Therefore my commercial projects always involve unique and eye-grabbing techniques, consumers certainly notice the difference between my work and mainstream photographs usually seen in advertisements. I am often asked, “how did you do that?” and to me that is the ultimate compliment because it means that I have engaged viewers in a way that makes them think and look a little longer.
My desire is to entertain people with my fun and creative approach to both commercial and fine art photography. I find joy in shooting any subject, I’m proud of the way that I can make all things interesting and beautiful; I believe that I perceive the world in a unique way and this sometimes leads to abstract photographs. I foster a hands-on approach to my photography, I am an expert at manipulating lighting and capturing composition, I devote my attention to detail and I often enjoy embodying the role of a stylist as much as I love capturing the scene.
Friends would describe me as an old soul with vintage flair who loves Jazz and Blues, especially in the form of a vinyl record. I love all things Americana and vintage and spend my free time reading art and design books, playing guitar, and practicing card tricks.
